Leros to Chalki is a long southbound run on Dodekanisos Seaways' catamaran Dodekanisos Express, taking around three and a quarter hours. The sailing works its way down the Dodecanese chain, calling at several islands before reaching Chalki off the west coast of Rhodes. It is a fast craft, so the time passes indoors rather than on deck.
Chalki is a tiny, tranquil island with essentially one settlement, Emborio, where pastel and neoclassical houses line the small harbour. There is very little development, a small permanent population, and a handful of quiet beaches within reach on foot or by local boat. Most visitors come for the pace rather than for sights.
The route runs roughly once a week, so it needs planning rather than improvising. The current timetable and fares are shown below. Chalki has much more regular links with Rhodes, and going via Rhodes is often the more practical way to reach it.
