This is a genuinely small-scale local crossing, run by Sea Gem Maritime Company with the Megalochari, from Ikaria across to Thymena in the Fourni archipelago. It takes between forty minutes and an hour and a half depending on the routeing and whether the boat calls elsewhere in the group first. The vessel is small, so a rough day makes itself felt.

Thymena is one of the quietest ferry stops in the Aegean, a single small village on a small island between Ikaria and Samos. The port is the harbour village itself, with a handful of tavernas along the waterfront and very little else. People come for remote island life and fishing culture rather than for sights, and you should arrive with your accommodation arranged.

The boat runs around four times a fortnight, so a couple of times most weeks, and the service is thin outside summer. Current departures and fares are shown below. The same local link ties Thymena to Fourni's main town and on to Samos.
