Arki to Astypalea is a long leg of around four and a half hours on the Dodekanisos Pride, the Dodekanisos Seaways catamaran. It runs the length of the northern Dodecanese and then west out to Astypalea, calling at several islands on the way. Seating is indoors, so it is a sit-down journey rather than a deck trip.

Astypalea sits at the western edge of the Dodecanese and looks and feels more Cycladic than its neighbours, whitewashed and low-key. The boat berths at Skala, also called Pera Gialos, below the Chora, with the Venetian kastro on the ridge above the town. It is a quiet island of beaches and walking that Greek travellers use as an escape.

This sailing runs roughly once a week, so it is a route to build a trip around rather than drop into; the current timetable and fares are shown below. Astypalea has a small airport with domestic flights, and ferry links west to the Cyclades and back east into the Dodecanese.
