Arki to Rhodes is the full length of the Dodekanisos Seaways line, close to nine hours on the Dodekanisos Pride. That is a long time on a catamaran with indoor seating, and the boat calls at a string of islands on the way down. Anyone doing it in one go should treat it as a full travelling day.
Rhodes is the largest island in the Dodecanese and a destination in its own right, with a UNESCO-listed medieval Old Town built by the Knights of St John. The ferry arrives at Rhodes Town, within walking distance of the walls, with the Mandraki harbour and its Colossus legend alongside. Beyond the Old Town there are long beaches, resorts and plenty of nightlife.
The through sailing runs about once a week, so it needs planning around; the current timetable and fares are shown below. Many travellers break the journey at Kalymnos or Kos instead, which is easier on the legs. Rhodes has an airport and links onward to Crete, Piraeus and Turkey.
