Astakos to Frikes Ferry

Useful Resources for Your Greek Island Trip

The last known sailing on this route was on 8 September 2026.

No timetable beyond that date has been published yet. Greek operators often release the next season’s schedules only a few months ahead, so this can be a seasonal pause rather than the end of the route. Check whether it is currently available to book through Ferryscanner.

Historically, this route ran about 1 sailings a day in August 2026, about 0.7 sailings a day in September 2026.

Astakos to Frikes takes about two hours with Ionion P. Lines on a conventional ferry. It is a straightforward run west across the Ionian from the Aetolia-Acarnania coast to the north end of Ithaki. Fares start around €13.

Frikes is a small fishing harbour on Ithaki's northeast coast, fringed with tavernas and stone buildings under terraced hillsides. It is the smallest of the island's three ferry ports and stays quiet even in season. Kioni is a short drive round the coast, and Vathy, the island capital, lies further south.

The boat runs roughly once a day, so it pays to plan around it rather than turn up. The timetable and current fares are shown below. Frikes also connects on to Fiskardo on Kefallonia and Vassiliki on Lefkada, which makes hopping round the northern Ionian workable without returning to the mainland.
