Astypalea to Agathonissi is one of the longer catamaran runs in the Dodecanese, taking around five hours on the Dodekanisos Pride. The route heads north past Kalymnos, Leros, Lipsi and Patmos before reaching Agathonissi, close to the Turkish coast. It is a long stint on a fast boat, so a window seat is worth having.

Agathonissi is tiny and one of the least visited inhabited Greek islands. The port and main settlement, Agios Georgios, is a small fishing harbour with a handful of tavernas and rooms, and the two inland hamlets are a short walk away. People come for solitude, simple village life and unspoiled coves rather than sightseeing.

The direct sailing runs about once a week, with the current timetable and fares listed below. Connections here are thin generally, and Patmos is the usual staging point if the direct boat does not line up with your dates.
