Astypalea to Arki is a long haul up the Dodecanese chain on the Dodekanisos Pride, the Dodekanisos Seaways catamaran. The crossing takes around four and a half hours, working north past Kalymnos, Leros, Lipsi and Patmos before reaching the tiny island of Arki. It is a fast boat, so seating is aircraft-style indoors with limited outside deck.

Arki is one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Dodecanese, north of Patmos, with a handful of residents and a small harbour. There is no real infrastructure to speak of beyond a few tavernas and rooms, and nothing that resembles a resort. Travellers who come here are after quiet water, swimming and a very slow pace.
