Astypalea to Lipsi takes around three and three-quarter hours on the Dodekanisos Pride, the Dodekanisos Seaways catamaran. The route runs north through the Dodecanese, past Kalymnos and Leros, before reaching the small island of Lipsi between Leros and Patmos. It is a fast, mostly enclosed boat with limited deck space.

Lipsi is a small, low-key island with a village-y feel, popular with Greek and Italian summer visitors. Ferries dock right in the main village, so you step off into the heart of town, which is compact and walkable. The church of Agios Ioannis Theologos and the Panagia tou Harou icon are the main sights, and the rest is beach-hopping and unhurried tavernas, with Platys Gialos the best known stretch of sand.
