This is a twenty-minute crossing between two of the smallest inhabited harbours in the Aegean, worked by the Megalochari for Sea Gem Maritime. Chryssomilia sits at the northern end of Fourni, Thymena is the neighbouring island in the same little archipelago, and the boat threads between them in flat, sheltered water. It is a local lifeline service rather than a tourist route, and the vessel is small in proportion.
Thymena is about as quiet as Greek island travel gets: one village, a handful of tavernas along the waterfront, and a fishing economy that has never had reason to change. There are no sights as such, and most people come simply for the pace of the place. Facilities are minimal, so bring what you need rather than expect to buy it on arrival.
Sailings run two or three times a week, timed for islanders rather than day trippers, so a visit usually means an overnight stay. Current departures are shown in the timetable below. The same boat links both islands with Fourni town, Karlovassi on Samos and Agios Kirykos on Ikaria, which is how most people reach the archipelago in the first place.
