Glossa sits above its own harbour on the northern tip of Skopelos, and it's this small port -- rather than the hillside village itself -- where the boats for Mantoudi come and go. Mantoudi, on the other side of the crossing, is a workaday landing on the Evia coast rather than a resort, so this is a route built for getting somewhere rather than for sightseeing along the way. The stretch of open sea in between means a stiff wind can add some chop to the crossing, though most sailings in settled weather are perfectly comfortable.

It suits islanders and regular travellers more than first-time holidaymakers: locals moving between Skopelos and the Evia mainland, or visitors linking the Sporades with onward road travel toward Athens.
