The last known sailing on this route was on 30 August 2026.
No timetable beyond that date has been published yet. Greek operators often release the next season’s schedules only a few months ahead, so this can be a seasonal pause rather than the end of the route. Check whether it is currently available to book through Ferryscanner.
Kavala to Oinousses is close to the full length of the Hellenic Seaways North Aegean line, taking around seventeen hours on the Nissos Samos. The ship calls at Lemnos and Lesvos before reaching the small islands off Chios, so this is an overnight crossing with much of a day attached. Cabins are available and worth booking on a run this long.
Oinousses is a small island just off the northeast coast of Chios, with a single village and harbour of the same name. It has long been home to prominent Greek shipowning families, which shows in the substantial houses and in the small maritime museum on the waterfront. There is very little tourism, and the appeal is a quiet island going about its ordinary business.
Direct sailings are roughly weekly, so the timetable and fares below are worth checking before anything else. Most travellers find it easier to sail to Chios, which is far better served from the north, and pick up the short and frequent local crossing to Oinousses from there.
