Historically, this route ran about 1.3 sailings a day in June 2026, about 1.7 sailings a day in July 2026, about 2.2 sailings a day in August 2026, about 1.5 sailings a day in September 2026.

Kimolos to Kythnos takes between about an hour and three quarters and two and a half hours, depending on the ship and its calls. Both Seajets and Magic Sea Ferries work the route, with the high-speed Champion Jet 1 and the Hsc Cat I. These are catamarans, so seating is inside and the crossing is brisk.

Kythnos lies between Kea and Serifos and is among the less-touristed western Cyclades, better known to Athenian weekenders than to international visitors. The main port is Merichas, a small harbour town on the west coast, with the island's Chora set inland on higher ground. Travellers come for relaxed beaches, particularly the double-sided sandbar at Kolona, and traditional villages.

Sailings are frequent for a route between two small islands, running once or twice most days in season. The current timetable and fares are shown in the table below, with tickets usually starting around fifty euros on the fast craft. Kythnos also connects onward to Lavrio and Piraeus, which makes it a practical staging point on the way to the mainland.
