Magic Sea Ferries runs Kimolos to Lavrio on the high-speed Hsc Cat I, covering the distance to the Attica coast in around four hours. It is a catamaran, so the ride is quick and the seating is inside and allocated. The route heads northeast across the western Cyclades, usually calling at other islands before the mainland leg.

Lavrio sits on the southeast coast of Attica, near Sounio, and is a genuine alternative to Piraeus for reaching Athens. It is a historic mining town, built on the ancient silver workings, and now serves as a secondary ferry gateway with its own dedicated port. The Temple of Poseidon at Sounio is a short drive south along the coast, and arriving here avoids Piraeus traffic entirely.

The service runs close to daily in season, with fewer sailings either side of it. Current departures, journey times and fares are listed in the table below, with tickets usually starting around sixty euros. Bear in mind that Lavrio is further from central Athens than Piraeus and has no metro link, so factor in the bus or transfer time, though it is handy for Athens airport.
