Ferry from Kymi to Skyros

Kymi to Skyros takes about an hour and three quarters aboard the Achilleas, the Skyros Shipping vessel that keeps the island connected. The crossing runs east from Evia into open water, and it can be lively when the meltemi is blowing. This is the only regular ferry link to Skyros.

The boat docks at Linaria, a small harbour on the island's west coast some way from Chora, the main town, which sits uphill inland. Buses meet the ferry for the run across. Skyros keeps its own character, with distinctive architecture, strong folk traditions, the Skyrian ponies and good beaches, and stays quieter than the rest of the Sporades.

There are usually two or three sailings a day in summer and fewer out of season; the timetable and current fares are shown below. On the mainland side the ferry uses Paralia Kymis, the port a few kilometres below Kymi town itself, and buses run down from Athens to meet the boat.
