Magic Sea Ferries runs the Hsc Cat I from Lavrio to Sifnos in a little over three hours. It is a high-speed vessel, so the crossing is quick but the seating is indoors and the ride firmer than on a conventional ferry in rough weather. Lavrio is the useful alternative to Piraeus here, particularly if you are coming from east Athens or the airport.

Sifnos is a relaxed island with a strong reputation for pottery and cooking. Ferries arrive at Kamares, a sheltered bay with a sandy beach right by the quay, while the capital, Apollonia, sits inland on a ridge and is a short bus ride away. The island is best known for its network of walking paths linking Apollonia, Artemonas and the walled village of Kastro, plus a run of good beaches on the south coast.

Sailings run close to daily in season, which makes a few days here easy to arrange. The current timetable and fares are shown below. Sifnos connects onward to Serifos, Kimolos, Milos and Paros, so it works well as one stop in a longer western Cyclades route.
