Leros to Vathy, the capital of Samos, takes somewhere between about four and a quarter and six and a half hours depending on the ship and its calls along the way. Blue Star Ferries and Superfast Ferries cover the route with conventional ferries including Diagoras and Lefka Ori. The longer timings reflect intermediate stops rather than a slower vessel.

Vathy, officially Samos Town, sits at the head of a deep sheltered bay that gives it its name. It is a working town rather than a resort, with administrative offices, shopping streets and a lively harbourfront, plus a well-regarded archaeological museum. It is the island's main ferry gateway and sits close to Kusadasi on the Turkish coast.
