Megisti to Patmos runs about fourteen and a quarter hours on Blue Star Ferries' Blue Star Patmos, a full night on board. The ship climbs the Dodecanese chain from Kastellorizo with calls along the way, so the time reflects the stops as much as the distance covered. Cabins, reclining seats and lounges are all available, and it is a comfortable enough overnight passage on a conventional ferry.

Ferries dock at Skala, the port and main town of Patmos, with the fortified Monastery of St John the Theologian visible on the hill above in the Chora. The monastery and the Cave of the Apocalypse, where St John is said to have received the Book of Revelation, form a UNESCO World Heritage site and are the island's principal draw. That protected status has kept development low, and Patmos stays quieter and more upmarket than its size might suggest.

The service runs roughly once a week, so departure days are the limiting factor rather than times. The current timetable and fares are listed below. Patmos is well connected within the northern Dodecanese, with frequent links to Leros, Lipsi and Samos once you are there.
