Mesta to Lavrio is a long Seajets run aboard the Aquablue, roughly six hours from southern Chios across to the Attica coast. It is a seasonal high-speed link rather than a core year-round route, and it gives southern Chios a direct connection to the mainland without going via Chios Town. Fares start around €25.
Lavrio sits on the southeast coast of Attica, near Sounio, and is the Athens area's third ferry port after Piraeus and Rafina. It has its own dedicated harbour and is a useful arrival point if you want to avoid Piraeus traffic. The Temple of Poseidon at Sounio is a short drive south along the coast.
The route runs about once a week, so it needs planning around rather than relying on; the current timetable and fares are shown below. Buses connect Lavrio with central Athens and the airport, though they are not frequent, so check times before you sail. Mesta itself is a fortified medieval village in the mastic country of southern Chios, with Chios Town's main port about thirty kilometres away.
