Mesta to Piraeus is a Blue Star Ferries sailing aboard the Blue Star Patmos, taking around seven and a half hours down the Aegean to Athens. It is a conventional ferry rather than a fast craft, so there is deck space, seating and a proper crossing to settle into. Fares start around €40 for a foot passenger.
Piraeus is the main port of Athens and one of the busiest passenger ports in Europe, a few kilometres southwest of the city centre. The metro terminus at the harbour connects directly into central Athens, and there is a suburban rail link as well. The port is spread across numbered gates from E1 to E12, so check which one your ferry uses on arrival and departure.
The route runs about once a week, so the current timetable and fares shown below are worth checking carefully before building a plan around it. If the dates do not suit, Chios Town has considerably more frequent Piraeus sailings. Mesta itself is a fortified medieval village in the mastic country of southern Chios.
