Methana to Spetses takes an hour and a quarter to a little over an hour and a half with Magic Sea Ferries, aboard the Magic 2 or Magic 3. The catamarans run the full length of the Saronic chain, calling at Poros and Hydra along the way, which accounts for the spread in journey times. Water on this stretch is sheltered by the Peloponnese coast and generally calm.

Spetses is the most polished of the Saronic islands, with restricted motor traffic, horse-drawn carriages in the old town and rows of neoclassical mansions. Boats come in at the Dapia, the historic harbour with its landmark cannon battery and grand captains' houses. Beaches ring the island and the sailing scene is a large part of its appeal.

Departures run roughly daily in the high season, less often at either end of the year. The live timetable and fares appear below. Spetses is also a five-minute crossing from Porto Heli on the mainland, which is useful if you are driving down rather than island hopping.
