Pessada to Agios Nikolaos is the direct link between southern Kefallonia and northeastern Zakynthos, operated by the Ionian Sea Ferries Consortium aboard the Iason. The crossing takes a little under two hours. It saves a long detour by road and sea via the mainland, and it is the only way to move between the two islands without doubling back through Kyllini.

Agios Nikolaos is a small fishing harbour on the quiet northeast side of Zakynthos, a long way in feel from the island's busy southern resorts. It is the departure point for boats to the Blue Caves and to Navagio, the shipwreck beach, both of which are within easy reach of the quay. Zakynthos Town, the island's main port, is on the opposite side of the island.

Expect a couple of sailings a day in the summer months, with the service thinning out sharply outside the season. The current timetable and fares are shown below. Pessada is essentially a ferry berth rather than a village, so plan onward transport in advance; taxis do not always wait there.
