Platanias to Glossa takes about an hour on Mantoudi Lines' Zefyros, crossing from the South Pelion coast to the northern end of Skopelos. Most sailings call at Skiathos on the way, which accounts for the modest difference in timings. It is a short and generally straightforward run in settled summer weather.
Boats dock at Loutraki, the harbour that serves the hilltop village of Glossa above it, so the port name and the village name differ. Glossa itself is a traditional settlement with a quieter, more everyday feel than Skopelos Town, with views across to Skiathos and Alonissos. The climb up from the port is steep, and there are taxis and a local bus for those not walking it.
