Historically, this route ran about 1.9 sailings a day in August 2026, about 1.6 sailings a day in September 2026.

Platanias on the South Pelion coast to Skiathos is the shortest way onto the Sporades from this stretch of mainland, around half an hour on Mantoudi Lines' Zefyros on the direct runs. Sailings that call elsewhere on the way stretch to about an hour and a half, so it is worth checking which pattern applies. It is a short open-water crossing at the end of the peninsula.

Skiathos is the busiest and liveliest of the Sporades for its size, with a strong resort and nightlife scene alongside its beaches. Koukounaries and Lalaria are the best-known stretches of sand, and the town harbour is dominated by the Bourtzi, a small fortified islet joined to the waterfront. The island has its own airport, so it is well supplied and easy to leave from.

Sailings run a couple of times a day in season, which makes this a practical option rather than a fallback. Current departures and fares are shown in the table below, with fares starting around thirteen euro. From Skiathos there are frequent onward boats to Skopelos and Alonissos.
