Rhodes to Katapola is the long westbound link from the Dodecanese into the Cyclades, run by Blue Star Ferries with the Blue Star 2. The crossing takes around six and a half hours, routing via Kos and Astypalea, which is the natural bridge between the two island groups. Fares start around forty nine euros.
Katapola is one of Amorgos's two ports, a sheltered natural harbour on the west coast with a small working village around it. The island capital, Chora, sits up the hill a short bus ride away, and the Hozoviotissa Monastery is built into the cliff face further along the coast. Amorgos is long and mountainous, better known for walking and dramatic coastline than for beach resorts.
This runs about once a week, so it is firmly a planned leg rather than a spontaneous hop. The current timetable and fares are shown in the table below. From Katapola there are onward services to Naxos, the small Cyclades and Piraeus, and Amorgos's second port at Aegiali serves the northeast of the island.
