Ferry from Rhodes (Rodos) to Panormitis (Symi)

Rhodes to Panormitis is a short and unusual crossing, run by Dodekanisos Seaways with the Panagia Skiadeni, taking around an hour and a half. It heads for the southwest coast of Symi rather than Symi Town, and fares start around seven euros. This is a small conventional ferry rather than a fast craft.

Panormitis is not a town at all but a bay dominated by the Monastery of the Archangel Michael, one of the most important religious sites in the Dodecanese. The monastery, with its distinctive bell tower and enclosed courtyard, sits directly on the water, and the quay is essentially the monastery's own harbour. There is no settlement to speak of beyond it, so visits are usually a few hours rather than a stay.
