Sigri to Mykonos crosses from the North Aegean into the Cyclades, about five and a half hours aboard the Blue Star Patmos. It is a conventional ferry rather than a fast craft, so the journey is steady and the open Aegean stretches make up most of it. For a route that links two very different corners of the country, it is a surprisingly straightforward single-ship run.
The ship berths at Tourlos, the newer main port a couple of kilometres north of Mykonos Town, built to keep the big ferries clear of the old harbour in Chora. Buses and taxis cover the short distance into town, where Little Venice, the windmills and the beach clubs to the south are the reason most people come. Mykonos is expensive and busy through the summer, so accommodation is worth booking ahead of arriving.
