Historically, this route ran about 0.3 sailings a day in September 2026.
Symi to Agios Kirykos is a long haul of around ten and a half hours on Blue Star Ferries' Blue Star Patmos, crossing from the southern Dodecanese up to Ikaria in the eastern Aegean. The ship calls at islands along the way, so a good part of the time is accounted for by stops rather than distance. Cabins, lounges and deck space make an overnight or long daytime passage manageable.
Agios Kirykos is the capital and main port of Ikaria, a workaday harbour town rather than a resort. Ikaria has a reputation for a slow, unhurried way of life and is one of the world's Blue Zones for longevity, and the thermal spa facilities close to the harbour tie into the island's hot springs tradition. The second port, Evdilos, sits on the north coast and is used by some other routes.
The pairing sails about once a week, so it is worth locking dates in early. The current timetable and fares are listed below, with fares starting around €24. Ikaria has a small airport and regular links to Samos, Fourni and Piraeus for onward travel.
