The last known sailing on this route was on 1 September 2026.
No timetable beyond that date has been published yet. Greek operators often release the next season’s schedules only a few months ahead, so this can be a seasonal pause rather than the end of the route. Check whether it is currently available to book through Ferryscanner.
Symi to Syros is a long crossing of roughly ten hours on Blue Star Ferries' Blue Star 2, running from the Dodecanese across the Aegean into the Cyclades. It is a large conventional ferry with cabins, reclining seats, lounges and open decks, which makes the length comfortable. Most of the journey is open water, so it is a proper sea day rather than a hop.
Syros is the administrative capital of the Cyclades and its main town, Ermoupoli, is unlike anywhere else in the group, built on nineteenth-century shipping wealth with grand neoclassical architecture, a marble main square and an opera house. Two hilltop neighbourhoods overlook the harbour, Catholic Ano Syros and Orthodox Vrontado, each with its church at the summit. It functions as a working town first and a resort second, and it stays busy year-round.
Sailings on this pairing run about once a week, so dates rather than times will shape the plan. The current schedule and fares are shown below, with fares starting around €70. Syros is one of the main Cycladic ferry hubs, so onward connections to Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Tinos and Piraeus are plentiful.
