Thessaloniki to Leros is the far end of the Diagoras run down the eastern Aegean, operated by Blue Star Ferries. At around twenty-five and a half hours it is one of the longest scheduled domestic crossings in the country, taking in several island calls on the way south. Fares start around €66 and cabins make the journey a good deal easier.

The ferry berths at Lakki, Leros's main port, which is notable for the striking 1930s Italian Rationalist and Art Deco buildings ranged around the harbour. It is a distinctive arrival, and quite unlike anywhere else in the Dodecanese. The island's older main town, Platanos, sits inland below the castle of Panteli, with the beach village of Agia Marina nearby.

This link runs about once a week. The current timetable and fares are shown below. Leros is otherwise well served from Piraeus and by the Dodecanese chain through Patmos, Kalymnos and Kos, so there are plenty of alternative routings if the direct sailing does not fit.
