Vassiliki to Frikes is the direct link from southern Lefkada down to the northeast corner of Ithaki, an hour at sea with Ionion P. Lines. It is a useful crossing for island-hoppers working their way south through the Ionian without going back to the mainland. The bay at Vassiliki is well sheltered, though the afternoon thermal winds that make it a windsurfing centre can put a bit of movement into the water outside it.

Frikes is a small fishing harbour on Ithaki's northeast coast, low-key and unhurried, with tavernas along the quay and stone houses backed by terraced hillsides. It is the smallest of the island's three ferry-served ports, the others being Vathy and Pissaetos. Kioni is close by and makes an easy first stop.

The service runs about once a day in season and stops outside it, so it is worth checking the current timetable and fares shown below before you build a route around it.
