Volos to Palaio Trikeri is a short run down the Pagasetic Gulf, taking around an hour and a quarter on the Chania III of Hellenic Coast Lines. It is a small conventional boat rather than a big island ferry, and the trip stays within the sheltered gulf with the Pelion hills on one side the whole way. That makes it a calm crossing even when the open Aegean is choppy.
Palaio Trikeri is a tiny islet off the tip of the Pelion peninsula, with no town to speak of.
