Ferry from Agistri (Skala) to Aegina

The hop from Agistri's main port at Skala across to Aegina takes between ten and twenty minutes depending on which boat you catch. Saronic Ferries run conventional vessels such as the Achaeos and Poseidonas, while Aegean Flying Dolphins operate faster craft including the Apollon Hellas and Athina. Either way it is a very short crossing, and the slower boats take vehicles.

Aegina Town is a far busier place than anywhere on Agistri, with a curved neoclassical waterfront, the Kolona headland and its lone temple column beside the harbour, and a good spread of shops and tavernas. It is the main supply point for the smaller island next door, so plenty of the traffic is practical rather than touristic. The Temple of Aphaia and the beach settlement of Agia Marina are both a short bus ride away.

Aegina is a popular day trip from Piraeus, and frequent buses run from the port in Aegina Town to Agia Marina, Perdika and the Temple of Aphaia, though services thin out to around five a day.
