Ferry from Mylos (Agistri) to Aegina

This is about as short as scheduled ferry travel gets in Greece, roughly ten minutes from Mylos on Agistri across to Aegina. Hellenic Seaways run it with the Aero 2 and Aero 3 high-speed catamarans, as the Agistri leg of their Piraeus service. You barely get settled before it is time to get off again.

Aegina Town is the island's main harbour, with a neoclassical waterfront and the single standing column of the Temple of Apollo at Kolona right beside the port. It is a proper working town, busy with day-trippers in summer but lived-in year round, and known for its pistachios and its fish tavernas. The Temple of Aphaia, inland to the east, is the island's main sight.

Aegina is a popular day trip from Piraeus, and frequent buses run from the port in Aegina Town to Agia Marina, Perdika and the Temple of Aphaia, though services thin out to around five a day. Aegina Town itself is easily walkable.
