Glossa to Skopelos Route Map

This is an island-internal crossing, linking Skopelos's second port at Glossa with the main port at Skopelos Town on the other side of the island. Aegean Flying Dolphins and Seajets run it with fast craft including the Eagle Jet 2, Erato and the Speedrunner Jets, taking anything from around twenty minutes on a direct run to about an hour when the boat calls elsewhere en route. Many travellers use it simply because the sea route is quicker and more comfortable than the winding road across the island.
Skopelos Town's port sits directly below the town itself, with tiers of white houses and churches climbing the hillside above the harbour, so you arrive with the whole place laid out in front of you. The island is greener and quieter than neighbouring Skiathos, thickly pine-forested and well known as a Mamma Mia! filming location. Beaches such as Kastani and Stafylos, along with a good network of walking routes, are the main draws.
Sailings run several times a day in season, thinning out considerably outside it. Current departures, operators and fares appear in the table below. From Skopelos Town there are onward links to Alonissos, Skiathos and the mainland ports of Volos and Agios Konstantinos.

Tips for the Glossa to Skopelos ferry
- A 40-litre backpack is the ideal size for island-hopping: large enough for two weeks' clothing, small enough to carry without difficulty.
- Port kiosks and cafes are often the only food option before boarding – if you have dietary requirements, eat before you arrive.
- Many island businesses (restaurants, hotels, excursion boats) close entirely from October to April; factor this in before planning an off-season island stay.
- In Skopelos, the densely forested hillsides, cobblestone-paved Chora, and over 360 churches make this one of the greenest and most characterful islands in the Sporades. The clifftop chapel of Agios Ioannis – the iconic location used in the film Mamma Mia – is reached by a steep flight of steps and rewards climbers with extraordinary sea views.
