Kissamos to Gythio Route Map
Seajets' Aqua Jewel links Kissamos in western Crete with Gythio in the southern Peloponnese, a crossing of around six and a quarter hours. This is one of the few direct sea links between Crete and the Peloponnese, and it usually calls at Kythira on the way. It is a conventional ferry taking cars, which makes it useful for anyone driving between the two.
Gythio is a neoclassical harbour town in the Mani, historically the port of ancient Sparta. Colourful buildings line the quay, and the islet of Marathonisi, joined to the town by a causeway, sits just offshore with its own legend attached to Paris and Helen.
