Sifnos to Milos Route Map

Sifnos to Milos is one of the busier legs of the western Cyclades line, taking around 40 minutes on the high-speed boats and up to a little over two hours on the conventional ships. Fast Ferries, Hellenic Seaways and Seajets all run it, with the Artemis, Champion Jet 1, Dionisios Solomos and Hyperspeed Jet 4 between them. Some sailings call at Kimolos on the way, which accounts for the longer times.
Milos is a volcanic island best known as the find site of the Venus de Milo, and its port, Adamas, is a working harbour town set on a large natural bay. Ticket offices, car hire and the bus stop are all within a few minutes of the quay. The island's draw is its geology, the white moonscape at Sarakiniko, the coloured cliffs at Firiplaka and Tsigrado, and the syrmata boathouses at Klima.
Sailings run several times a day through the summer, making this an easy connection to plan around. Current departures, vessels and fares are shown in the timetable below. Fares on this leg are low, generally starting at only a few euros.

Hiring a car
Do you need a car in Milos?
Yes, a car is genuinely useful on Milos. The ferry docks at Adamas, the island's main town and bus hub, so pickup is easy and buses cover Plaka and Pollonia, but the schedule is thin and most of the striking beaches, Sarakiniko, Firiplaka, Tsigrado, sit well outside it. Some access roads are unpaved, where standard insurance is void, so compare 4x4 options at Discover Cars.
Can you rent a car in Sifnos?
Yes, and it's worth having one. The ferry lands at Kamares, and the drive up the winding valley road to the capital, Apollonia, takes about ten minutes; most rental firms have desks at the port to match ferry arrivals. Sifnos's road network is compact and easy to navigate, so a car gets you around the hilltop villages and beaches without waiting on buses. Compare local suppliers at Discover Cars.

- Luggage can be stored in the overhead racks inside the seating areas or along the corridors; there is no formal left-luggage system.
- Two-berth cabins with a porthole cost more but are worth the premium for overnight crossings – a few hours of genuine sleep transforms how you arrive.
- Short crossings in summer are often operated by smaller local ferries or water taxis in addition to the main line vessels; ask at the port for all options.

Milos is also the island where the Venus de Milo was discovered in 1820.
