Ferry from Zakynthos (Zante) to Kyllini

Zakynthos to Kyllini is the main link between the island and the Peloponnese, operated by Levante Ferries and taking around seventy-five minutes. It is a conventional car ferry on a short, generally sheltered crossing, and the ships are large enough to be comfortable in most conditions. Vehicles, coaches and foot passengers all use it, and it is the standard way onto the island for anyone driving.

Kyllini is a small port town on the west coast of the Peloponnese, in Ilia, and it exists mainly to serve the ferries. There is not a great deal in the town itself, and most people head straight on by car or bus. The medieval castle of Chlemoutsi sits inland on the ridge above the coast and is worth the short detour if you have time before or after a sailing.

Yes, agencies operate right by the ferry terminal, which is Kyllini's main reason to exist: it is the mainland gateway to Zakynthos and Kefalonia, not a destination in itself. There is little to see in the small port village, so most visitors collect a car here only to continue by road towards Patras or Athens rather than to explore locally. Is it worth hiring a car on Zakynthos?

Yes, especially since much of the island's appeal, the Navagio viewpoint, Keri caves and quieter western beaches, sits well beyond the resort strips of Laganas and Tsilivi.
