Ferry from Poros (Kefalonia) to Kyllini

This is the short hop across from Kefallonia's southeast coast to the Peloponnese mainland, run by Levante Ferries and timed at about an hour and a half. Poros is a workaday harbour rather than a resort, and the crossing itself is an unremarkable stretch of open water with the mountains of the Peloponnese building ahead of you. Fares start around €14 for a foot passenger, which makes it one of the cheaper mainland links from the Ionian.

Kyllini, on the west coast of the Peloponnese in Ilia, is a functional ferry-port town rather than a destination in its own right. Most people who arrive here are heading somewhere else, either inland by car or onward to Zakynthos on another sailing. If you have time to spare, the medieval Chlemoutsi Castle sits inland from the coast and is the one genuine sight in the immediate area.
