Astakos to Pissaetos is a little over three hours aboard the Ionion Pelagos. Astakos is a quiet working port on the mainland's west coast, and the crossing heads out into the Ionian towards the west side of Ithaki. Fares start around €13.

Pissaetos is Ithaki's main ferry port, functional rather than scenic, with very little at the quay itself. Vathy, the island's capital, is a short taxi or bus ride away over the hill, and Kioni and Frikes lie to the north.
