Astakos to Sami Route Map

Astakos to Sami takes a little over two hours on the Ionion Pelagos, sometimes closer to two and a half. It is the shorter mainland crossing to Kefallonia, avoiding the longer haul out of Patra. Fares start around €12.

Sami sits on Kefallonia's east coast, a relaxed harbour town backed by green hills and largely rebuilt after the 1953 earthquake. It is the island's principal ferry port, and the Melissani and Drogarati caves are close by. Argostoli, the capital, is about half an hour inland by road.
