Hydra to Metochi Ferry

Useful Resources for Your Greek Island Trip

The last known sailing on this route was on 30 September 2026.

No timetable beyond that date has been published yet. Greek operators often release the next season’s schedules only a few months ahead, so this can be a seasonal pause rather than the end of the route. Check whether it is currently available to book through Ferryscanner.

Historically, this route ran about 9.4 sailings a day in August 2026, about 7.5 sailings a day in September 2026.

Hydra to Metochi is the shortest crossing in the Saronic, ten to twenty minutes on the small Hydra Lines boats Freedom II and Freedom III. It is a straight run across the channel to the Argolid shore, more shuttle than ferry, and the boats are small and quick. Foot passengers only, and journey times vary mostly with sea state rather than routing.

Metochi is a functional landing rather than a place to spend time, a small mainland hamlet in the Ermionida area used almost solely as the hop-off point for Hydra. There is car parking and little else, and most people are either collecting a vehicle or being met. Ermioni and Kranidi are a short drive inland if you need shops or somewhere to stay.

The shuttle runs many times a day, so you rarely wait long, though the service thins outside the summer. Current departures and fares are shown below. This is much the fastest way to reach Hydra if you are driving down from Athens, since it avoids the long sea route from Piraeus entirely.
