Four different ferry companies operate the route between the Greek islands of Alonissos and Skiathos. Ferry tickets for all of them can be booked online in advance using Ferryscanner.

Aegean Flying Dolphins: This unusual looking high speed ferry only takes foot passengers, so if you are traveling with a car you would need to take another boat instead. It’s quick vessel, taking just 1 hour and 25 minutes on the direct route from Alonissos to Skiathos. In the high season, Aegean Flying Dolphins sails once a day.

Seajets: Also offering a once per day crossing from Alonissos to the island of Skiathos is SeaJets with their vessel Sporades Star. This large vessel takes vehicles, so if you are traveling with a car it’s a good option. Travel times are about 1 hour and 45 minutes. During August, and also according to seasonal demand, SeaJets may also offer another high speed vessel on this route.

Hellenic Seaways: Part of the Attica group (sometimes referred to as Blue Star Ferries), Hellenic Seaways operate the Express Skiathos from Alonissos to Skiathos and other islands in the Sporades group. Like SeaJets they also provide an extra vessel when demand is high, using one of their ChampionJet boats.

Magic Sea Ferries: This is a new ferry company has recently started sailing in the Sporades islands, and in 2022 offered a once a week crossing between Alonissos and Skiathos.

Note that although Anes Ferries do sail between Volos and the Sporades islands, they currently do not offer a direct ferry from Alonnisos to the Greek island of Skiathos.

Tips For Taking The Alonissos Skiathos Ferries

Alonissos ferry port is within walking distance of the town. You can find it here on Google maps (it is sometimes known as Patitiri Port).

Passengers should aim to be at the ferry port at least a half an hour before departure. It is strongly advised for you to purchase tickets a few days before you sail, particularly in the busy summer months of July and August.

The departure area at Alonissos has a small covered area for passengers, as well as a cafe – which may or may not be open!

A car or 4x4 is worth it if you want the quieter beaches reached by dirt roads, though free car parks at popular spots like Vromolimnos fill up by mid-morning in summer. Can you rent a car on Alonissos?

Yes, several agencies operate in and around Patitiri, the small port town where ferries dock. A car is handy for reaching the Old Town, Chora, about 3.5km uphill, and the beaches scattered along the east coast, though scooters and taxis cover the same ground on this compact island.
