Anafi to Diafani is a long crossing on the Blue Star Chios, taking from around six and a half hours to twelve depending on how many islands the ship calls at on the way. Blue Star Ferries runs it as part of the line connecting the southern Cyclades with Crete and the Dodecanese. It is a conventional ferry, and the longer rotations run overnight.
Diafani is a small fishing village on the northeast coast of Karpathos, and one of the least developed ferry ports in the Dodecanese. The harbour is tiny and backed by pine-covered hills, with a handful of tavernas and rooms along the front. Nearly everyone arriving here is heading up to Olympos, the mountain village known for its traditional dress, dialect and windmills, reached by mountain road or on foot.
