Antikythira to Diakofti Route Map

Map of the Ionian Islands showing the ferry route north-north-west from Antikythira to Diakofti.

This is the short leg between Antikythira and Kythira, the busiest of the connections serving the little island. Both Seajets, with the Aqua Jewel, and Porfyroussa Maritime, with the Porfyroussa, cover it, and the crossing runs from about an hour and a half to two and a half hours depending on which boat you get. The two vessels are very different in size and comfort, so it is worth knowing which one you are booked on.

Diakofti is Kythira's main ferry port, a purpose built harbour rather than a village, and it makes no pretence otherwise. There is very little at the port itself, so most people head straight on to Chora, Kapsali or Milopotamos. The rusting wreck of the cargo ship Nordland sits just off the harbour and is the first thing most arrivals notice.

Between the two operators there are sailings most days in season, thinning out considerably in winter. Current departures and fares are listed below, with foot passenger fares starting around seven euros. Arrange a hire car or transfer in advance if you are landing late, as taxis at Diakofti are thin on the ground.
