Ferry from Mykonos (Tourlos) to Vathy (Samos)

Mykonos to Vathy is a long crossing of around four and three quarter hours on the Blue Star Myconos, running east from Tourlos on the line that serves Ikaria, Fourni and Samos. It calls at several ports along the way, so the time on board is broken up rather than spent on open water throughout. The boat is a full-size conventional ferry with decks, seating and vehicle capacity.

Vathy, officially Samos Town, is the capital and main port of the island, sitting in a deep sheltered bay from which it takes its name. It is a working town with administration, shopping streets and a lively harbourfront rather than a resort, and the archaeological museum is one of the better ones in the Aegean. Buses run from the quay to the rest of the island, including Pythagorio and the airport.

Worth it if you plan to reach beaches like Elia or Kalafatis and the far side of the island, since buses run less often outside town.
