Ferry from Athens (Piraeus) to Kissamos (Crete)

It is a conventional ferry rather than a fast craft, so the pace is steady and you spend a good part of the day at sea. Kissamos, also known as Kastelli, is a working port and agricultural town on Crete's northwest coast rather than a resort. The ferry harbour sits a couple of kilometres from the old town centre, so arrange transport if you have luggage. It is the natural base for Balos lagoon and Falasarna, both a short drive west, and Elafonisi is within reach for a day out.
