Ferry from Heraklia (Iraklia) to Katapola (Amorgos)

Heraklia to Katapola is worked by both Blue Star Ferries on the Blue Star Naxos and Small Cyclades Lines on the Express Scopelitis. The Blue Star does it in under two hours; the Scopelitis, which calls at the other small islands, takes closer to four and a half. One is a large conventional ship, the other a small local ferry, and the trip feels quite different on each.

Katapola is the busier of Amorgos's two ports, a working village around a sheltered natural harbour on the west coast. Tavernas and rooms line the waterfront and buses run up to Chora, the island capital, a few kilometres inland. The cliff-set Hozoviotissa Monastery, further along the coast, is the island's best-known sight.
