Ferry from Syros (Ermoupoli) to Leros (Lakki)

Syros to Leros takes around five and a half hours on the Blue Star 2, the conventional ferry that runs from the Cyclades over into the Dodecanese. It is a full-size ship with cabins and plenty of seating, which makes the length manageable, and it typically forms part of a longer routing calling at several islands. Departures are frequently overnight or in the small hours.

Leros is a quiet, understated island between Kalymnos and Patmos, notable for the Italian Rationalist architecture left from the 1912 to 1943 administration. Large ferries use Lakki, whose harbour is lined with striking 1930s Art Deco buildings. From there it is a short hop to the old main town of Platanos, the hilltop Castle of Pandeli, and the beach village of Agia Marina.
