Ferry from Patmos (Skala) to Kalymnos (Pothia)

Patmos to Kalymnos is one of the busiest hops in the northern Dodecanese, covered by Blue Star Ferries, Dodekanisos Seaways and SAOS Ferries. The catamarans Dodekanisos Express and Dodekanisos Pride do it in around an hour and a half, while the conventional Blue Star ships take up to three and a half hours with calls at Lipsi and Leros. Which you take depends mostly on what time of day you want to travel.

Kalymnos is the sponge diving island, rugged and traditional, and far less resort focused than neighbouring Kos. Ferries dock at Pothia, the capital on the south coast, where sponge shops and workshops near the harbour are still a feature. The island has become an internationally known rock climbing destination, with the main climbing base up the coast at Masouri.
