Lipsi to Kalymnos runs south through the middle of the Dodecanese, taking a little over an hour on the fast Dodekanisos Express and up to nearly three hours on the Blue Star and SAOS boats that call at Leros on the way. With three operators between them this is one of the better-served links out of Lipsi, and a common first leg for anyone heading down the chain.

Ferries arrive at Pothia, the island's capital and main port, a busy working town stacked up the hillsides around the harbour.
